Performance Art

Ritual, video, sound, music, dance, and painting.

• Through these performances I am able to cast a peripheral gaze at the human condition in relation to human atrocities, natural disasters, environmental decay and the nuance of stereotypes.

• My performances are an attempt to dissociate myself from the usually accessible routines of the everyday. I use complex combinations of 'choice-actions' reflective of remote associations that exhume possibilities unexpected; sometimes paradoxical. The performances are therefore a departure from cultural accessibility or of the expected rationale of our daily actions. They seek meaning within the selected space; within codified actions and by the ambience of the specifics of the given time.

. These performances are meaningful only when they are judged within the parameters of the given moment in relation to deliberated, improvised, and accidental occurrences. The basic purpose of the performances is to create contrasting scenarios between artistic invention and cultural norms. In addition performance art is a vehicle that allows a closer encounter with our primordial instincts through filtered emotive and intellectual states framed around cultural recyclable possibilities. They are also an attempt to destabilize cultural myths through allegorical creations.
